How to Join the Sunningdale Savoy Chorus

What You Need To Know About the Sunningdale Savoy Chorus

We meet every Monday evening at 8.00 pm for rehearsals at Cheapside Village Hall and we perform a fully costumed show once a year as well as an Autumn and a Christmas Concert. The show is usually held at either LV School, Ascot, or The Cordes Hall, Sunninghill. The Autumn Concert is a formal dress concert held at the Cordes Hall.  We also perform other concerts at Chrismas including our own  which is an informal evening where we serve mulled wine and mince pies.

An elected committee manages the chorus. The elections are held every year at the AGM.

To fund the chorus there is a subscription for membership. This subscription pays for the hire of the hall, the musical accompanist and the musical director.

It also provides insurance cover for our stage and library effects and for the membership.

There are three grades of membership:

Full membership: Is when you perform in all concerts and productions, this gives you the right to vote at the AGM. Subscriptions cost £12.50 per month by Standing Order (download form below) or £150 for the year

Associate membership: Is for 6 months if you choose to take part in only one of the production/concerts we perform in a calendar year.  With this level of membership you do not have voting rights at the AGM, but you enjoy all the other benefits of full membership. Subscriptions cost £12.50 per month by Standing Order or £75 for 6 months.

Student/Junior membership: Is for the members who are under 16 or in full-time education. This is charged at just £5 a month and can be paid by standing order or cheque.

Other events are organised by the committee or members for all the chorus members and normally include their partners. There have been summer barbecues, an entry to the local Ascot and Sunningdale Carnival, and an annual Christmas dinner.

In December 2002 members of the Society were involved in carol singing at Ascot Races to which some of the members children came and, although briefly, the group appeared on BBC TV.

The subscriptions are collected monthly by Standing Order and the form is included here. It is easier if you have access to online banking to complete the standing order on line, using the details printed on this sheet to set it up properly.

New members are given a couple of weeks to see whether they want to join the Society on a permanent basis and then we would ask that the standing order form is completed and returned to your bank. Please advise the Treasurer when you have done this, or he may chase you up at rehearsal; or contact him if you have any queries.
